The wine is top-notch - the region produces less than one per cent of Australian wine but over 15 per cent of the country's premium wine.

  • Dunsborough or August Whale Watching - Shared Tour

Day 3: Margaret River Whale Watching. Board the luxurious and spacious vessel mid-morning or mid-afternoon. The passionate and knowledgeable crew will commence an engaging presentation outlining the biology and ecology of the great whales migrating through the region, along with insights into the marine and birdlife commonly encountered.

From mid-May to mid-August, the picturesque seaside town of Augusta offers one of Australia's premier locations for viewing Humpback Whales as they undertake their epic northbound migration, often filling the sheltered waters of Flinders Bay.

From mid-August to late November, the southern migration can be observed from Dunsborough, with many mothers travelling alongside their calves. During this time, whales begin their journey back toward the feeding grounds of Antarctica, and there is also the potential to encounter enormous Blue Whales in the calm waters of Geographe Bay as they head south.

In addition to remarkable whale sightings, the area may also reveal Long-nosed Fur Seals, White-bellied Sea-Eagles, Ospreys, petrels, shearwaters, Australasian Gannets and dolphins.
