Tour day-by-day

  • Daintree Afternoon & Nocturnal - Shared Tour

    Day 1: Daintree National Park. Depart Cairns around midday, heading north to the ancient Daintree Rainforest, a 180-million-year-old ecosystem spanning 120,000 hectares and home to Australia's highest diversity of rainforest mammals. The journey offers breathtaking views along the Great Barrier Reef Drive, one of Australia's most scenic coastal highways. Upon arriving at Daintree National Park, you'll enjoy afternoon tea before embarking on a serene Daintree River Wildlife Cruise aboard a solar-powered vessel. This eco-friendly cruise provides opportunities to spot Saltwater Crocodiles and many of the region's 420 bird species, including kingfishers, cormorants, and Brahminy Kites.

    Continuing to Cape Tribulation, you'll explore a rare location where the rainforest meets the sea, guided by an expert wildlife guide. The evening includes a memorable dining experience in the rainforest, followed by a night walk to observe nocturnal wildlife. Your guide will share insights on the 3,000 plant species and various crepuscular and nocturnal animals, such as the Daintree River Ringtail Possum and Northern Long-nosed Bandicoot, enhancing your unique experience of the Wet Tropics. Arrive back in Cairns at 10:30 pm.

  • Frankland Islands National Park - Shared Tour

    Day 2: Frankland Islands National Park & Great Barrier Reef. Your tropical island adventure begins with an air-conditioned coach pickup from Cairns, heading south through the stunning UNESCO World Heritage-listed rainforest and vast sugar cane fields. You'll pass Walsh's Pyramid, the tallest natural freestanding pyramid in the world, before arriving at Deeral, just 45 minutes from Cairns.

    From Deeral, board the Turtle Islander vessel for a peaceful 30-minute cruise along the Mulgrave River, surrounded by lush rainforest and mangroves teeming with birdlife, including kingfishers, ibis, and spoonbills, as well as Saltwater Crocodiles. The boat then ventures into the traditional sea country of the Mandingalby Yidinji and Gungandji peoples, reaching Normanby Island, just 10 kilometres offshore.

    Here, you'll explore sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant fringing reefs, perfect for snorkelling to see colourful corals, tropical fish and turtles, with an expert crew and marine biologist on hand. With limited tour numbers, you can enjoy a range of activities, including guided snorkel experiences, kayaking, a semi-submersible ride, paddle boarding, and a guided island walk with a marine biologist.

  • Eyre Peninsula - Shared Tour

    Day 3: Port Lincoln. Fly to Adelaide and then Port Lincoln with the afternoon at leisure.

    Day 4: Neptune Islands. After a safety briefing, you'll depart the Marina at 7 am, heading towards the Neptune Islands. The 2.5-hour cruise takes you along the edge of Port Lincoln National Park, through Thorny Passage, and into the Southern Ocean. While enjoying a light breakfast, keep an eye out for playful dolphins, seabirds and White-bellied Sea Eagles.

    Upon arrival at the Neptune Islands, the skipper will find a sheltered spot to moor. You'll gather on the back deck to discuss dive safety and procedures. No prior experience is needed for this surface dive, allowing everyone to enjoy the underwater action in the cage over the next 5-6 hours. You'll also spot local wildlife like Australian Sea-lions, Long-nosed Fur Seals, and various birds. Enjoy tea, coffee, soft drinks, snacks, and a buffet lunch, before returning to the marina around 6 pm.

    Day 5: Port Lincoln National Park.  Tour stunning Port Lincoln, nestled on the shores of beautiful Boston Bay where you will learn about the city's discovery and history while enjoying the tastes of the "Seafood Capital of Australia', as you sample the freshest seafood of the region. 

    Experience the diversity of the 29,000ha Lincoln National Park via 4WD, where rugged cliffs and stunning sand dunes, provide an opportunity to view Osprey, White Bellied Sea-Eagles, Long-nosed Fur Seals off the rocks of Donnington Point, Bottlenose Dolphins, Western Grey Kangaroos, Emus, Rosenberg's Goanna (warmer months) and dragon lizards. Later in the afternoon, come face to face with wild Koalas, the cuddly icon of Australia as they laze in the Manna gums. Fly back to Adelaide early evening.

  • Optional Extension 1: Bremer Canyon Killer Whale Expedition (December - late April)

    Your full-day oceanic expedition begins in Bremer Bay, a picturesque town two hours from Albany or five hours from Perth. If travelling from Albany, Naturaliste Charters offers convenient transport. Upon arriving at Bremer Bay Boat Harbour at 7:45 am, you'll board a purpose-built Southern Ocean expedition vessel for an 8:30 am departure. As you journey into the vast Southern Ocean, take in the stunning coastal scenery and watch for dolphins, Australian Sea-lions, and seabirds.

    An expert crew will present a multimedia session on Killer Whales, covering their biology, ecology, and other marine life you may encounter. After a 1.5-hour journey, you'll reach the Bremer Canyon, where the search for Killer Whales begins. Pods of these majestic predators often surround the vessel, and you may witness them hunting, with seabirds eagerly scavenging. A marine biologist on board will provide insights into the whales' social behaviours and local marine ecology.

    The day includes morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and unlimited beverages. You'll return around 4:30 pm, awed by the incredible marine life.

  • Optional Extension 2: Three Day Kakadu & Arnhemland (May-late October)

    This epic private adventure across the World Heritage Listed Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land winds across stunning floodplains and escarpments in search of the formidable Saltwater Crocodile, many of the region's 280 bird species, adorable marsupials and mammals and incredible flora. The pristine beauty of Fogg Dam, Mary River Airboat cruise, the iconic Yellow Water Cruise and the tranquillity of the natural plunge pool at Maguk are highlights for nature enthusiasts. Aside from the rich wilderness offerings, guests will visit Injalak Art Centre & Mikinj Valley to observe the breathtaking rock art galleries and some of the best views that you will ever see.
