Part of the Great Sandy Marine Park, the region’s shallow bays and sheltered channels, blend into seagrass meadows, mudflats, salt marshes, mangroves and sandy beaches. This concentrated diversity provides habitat, food sources and nesting sites for a broad range of species, including turtles, sharks, fish, corals, marine invertebrates, shorebirds, migratory waders, marine invertebrates, Dugongs and Dingoes on the beaches of K'gari.
