Tour day-by-day
Before dawn, depart your Byron Bay accommodation and travel to a secluded creek renowned for its resident Platypus population. As the surrounding bush begins to awaken, enjoy a gentle 90-minute walk along the water's edge, where your guide will help interpret the subtle ripples and movements that often reveal the presence of these shy monotremes. Binoculars are provided to allow close observation while ensuring the wildlife remains undisturbed.
The creek also supports an abundance of native birdlife, with one or two Platypus commonly observed during the walk and occasional sightings of wild Koalas. Throughout the experience, your guide shares fascinating insights into the ecology of Australia's fascinating aquatic monotreme and the importance of protecting healthy freshwater ecosystems for its long-term survival.
Following your wildlife encounter, enjoy a locally sourced picnic breakfast beside the creek before returning to Byron Bay. Lasting approximately four hours, this intimate experience offers a rare opportunity to search for one of Australia's most iconic yet seldom-seen native animals in its natural environment.

Habitat Restoration and Reforestation
The team at Vision Walks Eco-Tours participates in local tree planting and reforestation projects that improve biodiversity outcomes and sequester carbon. By working with community planting groups and restoring habitat for native species, the business contributes to the long-term resilience of local ecosystems while helping offset operational emissions.
Carbon Emissions Reduction & Offset
Vision Walks Eco-Tours actively reduces operational emissions through the use of hybrid vehicles, transitioning towards electric vehicles, renewable energy usage and efficient transport planning. The business has achieved net carbon-positive outcomes through a combination of emissions reduction, habitat restoration and certified carbon offset programs.
Night Vision Goggles
A range of wildlife experiences have been designed to minimise disturbance to native species. Their Night Vision Walk uses night vision technology rather than traditional spotlights, allowing guests to observe nocturnal wildlife with minimal impact. Wildlife viewing practices across all tours are designed to respect animal behaviour, avoid habitat disturbance and encourage responsible interactions with nature.
Developing Partnerships To Meet Sustainability Goals
Vision Walks Eco-Tours actively contributes to Koala conservation through direct financial support and habitat restoration. A donation is made for every guest participating in selected Koala experiences, supporting organisations including Friends of the Koala and Bangalow Koalas.
