Immerse yourself in the pristine waters of the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park, on a snorkel adventure to encounter Australian Sea-lions, countless fish species along with seabirds and dolphins.

  • Be mesmerised by the beautiful waters of this A-class Nature Reserve, exploring the best snorkelling spots in the bay, drifting over seagrass meadows and limestone reefs spotting fish and other marine life.

  • Equipped with snorkeling gear and accompanied by knowledgeable guides, you'll have the opportunity to witness the Australian Sea-lions' graceful movements and playful antics in the water.

  • Explore the rugged islands, viewing nesting pelicans, cormorants and spotting other sea birds including the graceful Osprey, before enjoying gourmet grazing platters, sandwiches and fresh local seafood.

Perth Wildlife Encounters has been offering the opportunity to swim with wild Bottlenose Dolphins across the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park since 1989. Terry Howson, a native of Rockingham, pursued his childhood dream of swimming with wild dolphins, dedicating a year to study the dolphins. After months of observation and interaction, Terry developed a dolphin swim project that offered a truly wild dolphin encounter, without feeding or disturbing their natural environment.

  • Half Day Tour

    Embark on an unforgettable wildlife snorkelling expedition within the breathtaking Shoalwater Islands Marine Park. This adventure will take you to the top snorkelling spots across the ruggedly spectacular Penguin, Seal and Bird Islands.

    Your day begins by boarding the multi-level, purpose built cruise and snorkelling Sealion Express vessel. The upper deck ensures room for all with a large open layout, offering unobstructed views for a maximum of 24 passengers. The eco-focused low engine noise and minimal vibration, ensures a relaxing and calming experience to immerse in the incredible nature above and below the water. 

    Equipped with wetsuits, masks, snorkels, fins, and flotation devices, you'll explore with vast rugged limestone coastlines, reefs and seagrass meadows found throughout the Marine Park, home to the Smooth Stingray, Southern Eagle Ray, Western Rock Octopus, Pink Snapper, Banded Sweep and countless other fish species. But it is the playful interactions with the world's rarest sea lion that is the highlight for visitors from across the globe. 

    Swimming with Australian Sea-lions offers a truly enchanting and memorable experience. As you glide through the crystal-clear waters, you'll be greeted by these curious and playful marine mammals, with their agile underwater acrobatics bound to provide thrills at every turn. In addiiton to snorkelling wiht the puppy dogs or the ocean, you may also encounter wild Bottlenose Dolphins and numerous seabirds including cormorants, Australian Pelicans, Terns and Osprey.

    Conclude your adventure with a shared VIP luncheon gourmet grazing platter, featuring delectable seafood selections catered to your dietary preferences, upon returning to Mersey Point.

    Group Size: Maximum of 2 spectators and 20 swimmers
    Child Policy: Children under 6 years are not permitted
    Departure Information: Guests meet at 8:00am for an 8:30am departure outside of Penguin Island Visitor Centre, 153 Arcadia Drive Shoalwater.
