Itinerary

Tour day-by-day

  • Perth

Day 1: Arrive Perth and transfer to your accommodation for a two night stay.

Day 2: Today you are free to explore Perth at leisure. Perth, set on the banks of the sparkling Swan River, a few miles from the magnificent beaches of the Indian Ocean. The closest is City Beach, but Cottesloe, Floreat, Scarborough, and Sorrento are also popular. Nearby outdoor activities include Kings Park with its walking trails and a 12-hectare botanical garden, famous for its spring wildflower displays.

Fremantle, 18 kilometers south-west of Perth is a colorful, busy port at the mouth of the Swan River, easily accessible by bus, train, ferry and taxi. Attractions include the Fremantle Arts Centre, the Maritime Museum, the Round House, the market and the lively town center affectionately known as the cappuccino strip.

  • Margaret River

Day 3: This morning, collect your rental car and Drive to the Margaret River area for your three night stay.

Day 4: Drive to Busselton or Dunsborough to join a whale watch excursion. Naturaliste Charters are the longest running whale watching company in the Southwest and have been operating professional whale watching tours out of the region for more than 25 years. Their whale watching tours provide visitors with the opportunity to view Humpback Whales and Southern Right Whales, on both their northern and southern migrations. As you watch these majestic creatures breach and frolic, you will truly be mesmerized by their agility.

Day 5: Day at Leisure. Originally a chilled out surfie town, Margaret River has evolved into the ultimate smorgasbord of good food, fine wine and spectacular scenery - just a three-and-a-half hour drive south of Perth. There's a fine supply of world-class wineries, boutique breweries, and restaurants overlooking sweeping vineyards and surf breaks. The wine is definitely top notch - the region produces less than one per cent of Australian wine, but over 15 per cent of the country's premium wine. And with 60 plus wineries to choose from, you won't be stuck for choice.

Day 6: Return to Perth and drop off your rental car, overnight stay.

  • Indian Pacific Train

Day 7: Today, transfer to the station to board the Indian Pacific train for the 3 night journey to Sydney. Settle into your comfortable cabin and get to know the creature comforts of life onboard. Enjoy lunch as you glide through the picturesque rolling hills of the Avon Valley. After a relaxing afternoon onboard, enjoy a three-course dinner prior to your late evening arrival in the wild west township of Kalgoorlie.

Days 8: On board the Indian Pacific Train. Awake to the spectacular expanse of the Nullarbor Plain and watch the sunrise. See the big skies and ancient stillness of the desert landscape, broken only by a mob of friendly kangaroos. Waiting ahead is the charm of the once-thriving Nullarbor railway community – now ghost town – of Cook. Sit back and relax as the train continues its trek across the longest single stretch of railway in the world. Enjoy dinner and relaxed conversation in the lounge before a restful night’s sleep.

Day 9: On board the Indian Pacific Train. On arrival in elegant Adelaide, you have the choice of a walking tour (seasonal), a behind-the-scenes tour of the world-famous Adelaide Oval, or a coach tour of the city sights. Re-join the Indian Pacific as you continue the journey into the night.

Day 10: Indian Pacific final day. Wake in the picturesque Blue Mountains. See the majestic Three Sisters at Echo Point and the views at Jamison Valley before completing your journey on the chartered NSW rail service (fully hosted by Indian Pacific staff) into Sydney Central Station. Alternatively, stay on board the Indian Pacific to travel directly to Sydney, where you will transfer to your accommodation for the next three nights.

  • Sydney & Southern Highlands

Day 11: You don't have to go far from Sydney to experience Australia's fabulous wildlife - you just have to know where to look. This is the ideal afternoon/evening tour in which to encounter iconic Australian wildlife. Travel in a luxury 4WD vehicle to the South Coast and Southern Highland areas in search of kangaroos, wallabies, platypuses, possums, wombats and koalas in their natural settings. Great bird-life viewing is possible, including parrots, lyrebirds, bowerbirds and kookaburras. There is stunning scenery and short bush walks.

Day 12: At your leisure to explore the city of Sydney. The sparkling waters of Sydney Harbour and stunning skyline is regarded as one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the world. What is surprising is the diverse wildlife viewing opportunities at Sydney’s doorstep.

Sydney has more marine species than any other harbour in the world and is a prime location to observe the incredible Humpback Whale migration each year from May to November. Heath-covered headlands, dramatic clifftops, scenic beaches, historic sites and outstanding panoramas of Sydney’s skyline abound at North Head Sanctuary and adjoining Sydney Harbour National Park.

Be seen on trendy Oxford Street from Darlinghurst to Paddington or try the Woolloomooloo Finger Wharf, Surry Hills, the quay or the Rocks

Day 13: Today you will transfer to Sydney airport for your departing flight.
