From whale watching to swimming with dolphins and fairy penguins that come to shore every evening, there is always an opportunity to get up close and personal to wildlife when traveling around Australia.

Tour day-by-day

  • Perth & Rottnest Island

    Day 1: On arrival into Perth, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a two-night stay. This afternoon, relax and enjoy an afternoon of indulgence as you sample your way through Perth's Valley of Taste including a visit to three quality wineries, cheeseboard, visit a boutique, award-winning microbrewery, enjoy a chocolate truffle and chocolate tasting and produce tasting at MRCC's Providore before returning back to Perth. 

    Day 2: Cruise across to Rottnest Island as you prepare to discover a side of Rottnest Island that few get to see. Explore Rottnest Island's remote and wonderful coastline, see secluded bays and beaches, and encounters with rarely seen wildlife. Join the Eco Express for a journey to the island's wild side, which includes a full circumnavigation (weather permitting) of Rottnest, offering an unforgettable, entertaining and informative experience. The waters off Rottnest Island are teeming with wildlife, including the majestic Humpback Whales between September - November and closer to home watch the delightful antics of The New Zealand Fur Seal Colony out at Cathedral Rocks. Enjoy a buffer lunch and free time before returning to Perth.

  • Margaret River

    Day 3: Collect your rental vehicle and make your way to Yallingup, a quaint seaside town nestled on a ridge and surrounded by the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park and in the Margaret River Region. Stop enroute at Busselton to view the popular jetty or stop in at Dunsborough for a het boat ride. Enjoy a three-night stay in Yallingup, your base to explore the Margaret River region.

    Day 4: Take a short drive to Cowaramup and explore the world of food and wine at Margaret River's founding wine estate, Vasse Felix Winery. Take a tour behind the scenes on winemaking, sharing unique historical insights into the region and all facets of wine production. Meet with the winemaker as you explore the winery and red barrel hall, before joining your host for a tasting of the Wine Collection. Then step into the world of food and wine matching, where you'll gain insights into Margaret River's local produce, and the philosophies that guide the Vasse Felix Chefs in their creation of dishes to match with the region's wines. Enjoy the ultimate treat of a five-course tasting menu, paired with wines.

    Day 5: Between September and December, the tranquil waters off Dunsborough provide the perfect backdrop to observe Humpback Whales, Southern Right Whales and a chance to spot the largest creature on earth, The Blue Whale during the southern migration. The cruise maximizes your chance of spotting marine life with expert guides that know all the best viewing sights as you set sail around Geographe Bay.

  • Adelaide, Port Lincoln & Eyre Peninsula

    Day 6: Return to Perth and drop off the rental vehicle before boarding your flight to Adelaide (not included). On arrival, transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay. The remainder of the day is free to explore the city or relax.

    Day 7: Transfer to Adelaide Airport for your flight Port Lincoln. On arrival, you will be met by your guide to commence a full day of touring. Drive to Big Swamp Wetlands, the last true freshwater wetlands on the Eyre Peninsula, for exceptional wild and bird life viewing. Continue to Coffin Bay, renowned for their oysters and home to important species of flora and fauna. Enjoy an oyster farm tour before a delicious lunch of gourmet seafood platters, then it is off to Coffin Bay National Park where you see a myriad of wildlife species before returning to your hotel for the evening.

    Day 8: Depart Port Lincoln for the magical destination of Baird Bay, stopping en route to take in the magnificent views. Board the 14-seater ‘Neo-phocus’ where you will be swimming the Australian Sea-lions off Jones Island. Return to Baird Bay for lunch before heading to Talia Caves to view natures artistry. On return to Port Lincoln, stop of one of the best vantage spots along the Great Australian Bight.

    Day 9: After breakfast, your day of touring commences with a morning viewing in the small coastal hamlet of Tulka where waders and seabirds can be seen from the Bird Hide. Continue traveling through the 29,000-hectare National Park with plenty of time for wildlife viewing or hiking. In the afternoon, venture to Mikkira Station to see a colony of wild koalas and a chance to see kangaroos and emu in the wild.

    Day 10: Transfer to Port Lincoln Airport for your flight to Adelaide.

    For those seeking the ultimate marine experience, there is the option to board the Great White Shark cage dive vessel, Shark Warrior for a chance to see these amazing creatures from an Aqua Sub, the glass viewing area. (An additional night stay is required in Port Lincoln for this option (not included and additional cost).

    Connect with a flight to Melbourne (not included). On arrival in Melbourne, your will be met and transferred to your hotel for a two-night stay.

  • Melbourne, Phillip Island & Great Ocean Road

    Day 11: A free morning to explore Melbourne at your leisure before your animal adventures will start with a visit to a Sanctuary Conservation Park before heading to Phillip Island. Head to Woolamai Surf Beach to catch a glimpse of the awesome waves before crossing the island to reach the dramatic west coast and the Penguin Parade. Join your ranger guide for an informative journey through the penguin colony, enjoying their commentary via your personal headset. Take your seat in the wonderfully located beachfront viewing stand offering superb viewing of the penguins emerging from the water and crossing the beach.

    Day 12: Today, join a three-day guided tour of the Great Ocean Road. Your journey commences with a stroll through a National Park looking for wild koalas, cockatoos and kookaburras. The Wildlife Guide and Koala Researcher will explain the behaviour and individuality of each of the Koalas guests meet. Help create habitat for a wild koala by joining our "Make a Home for Clancy" conservation project.

    Walk quietly up to a wild mob of Kangaroos on the plains and in open Bushland. Continue to your accommodation at Little River for an overnight stay.

    Day 13: See some of the world’s most spectacular coastal scenery as you follow the Great Ocean Road to the surging surf coast and walk in the magnificent rainforests of the Otway National Park. Your Wildlife Guide will explain the formation of these mighty forests and help you find parrots, kookaburras, koalas and wallabies. Continue to Port Campbell National Park, looking out for echidnas, wallabies, lizards and colorful birds which make their home in the coastal heathlands. Linger a while to take in some of nature’s handiwork at the Twelve Apostles and the Loch Ard Gorge. Hear stories about the terrible shipwrecks of the past. Overnight Loc Ard Gorge/Port Campbell.

    Day 14: This morning, have one last look at the coast in the dramatic morning light before returning to Melbourne across the vast grasslands of the Western Plains. Stop en route to drive to the top of an extinct volcano that offers spectacular views across the plains. From the summit, see some of the hundreds of volcanic lakes scattered across the plains. Pass Lake Corangamite, the largest permanent lake in Australia, often covered with prolific birdlife before arriving into Melbourne for an overnight stay.

    Day 15: Transfer to Melbourne Airport for your onward flight arrangements.
